The Rainier Foothills Wellness Foundation Care Van was originally established in 1987 and provided rides to anyone needing transportation to the local hospital, pharmacies, local medical offices including physicians, dentists, optometrists, chiropractors, and therapists. The Care Van was originally purchased by Rainier Foothills Wellness Foundation, operationally supported by the hospital and financially supported by the Foundation and generous donors.
The service areas include: Enumclaw, Black Diamond, Buckley, Wilkeson, & Carbonado
Service is not just for seniors. Service is available to anyone that displays a hardship for transportation. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. The van is not equipped with car seats. If a car seat is required for a young passenger, the parent must supply the car seat.
Appointments are for non-emergency healthcare related transports only (doctor/prescription pick-up/physical therapy/chiropractor/eye exams…etc)
To schedule a ride, call 360-284-2444 (local call). To allow us time to schedule your ride, call our office at least two (2) business days before a scheduled medical appointment. Our phone lines are open Monday-Friday from 9 am to 2 pm, excluding all major holidays. If you call after hours, please leave a message and we will get back with you on the next working day. Transport to urgent appointments may be scheduled on an “as available” basis. If you need to cancel a ride, please call us as soon as possible, but at least 2 business hours before your scheduled pick-up time.
A $5.00 donation is suggested (this program is solely functioning on donations, grants and sponsors).
The Care Van is equipped similar to a Metro Access bus. The van has several features such as a hydraulic lift for large wheelchairs. The van seats eight passengers, plus two wheelchairs.
The Care Van program provides free, non-emergency transportation to and from healthcare related appointments within the Rainier Foothills Wellness Foundation (RFWF) service area. Service areas includes: Enumclaw, Buckley, Wilkeson, Carbonado, Greenwater and Black Diamond. The Care Van is equipped with a hydraulic lift which enables transport for disabled, passengers with wheelchairs, electric scooters and senior citizens that cannot enter the van by use of the stairs. The Care Van provides rides to other plateau residents who are not seniors or disabled, but who may show a temporary hardship for transportation to health-related appointments.
What can you do? Buy a gallon of gas for $5 (or more). The Care Van Service is dependent on donations and grants.
